Getting Tighter

Hey there, well last night the Skullcaps jammed again! We played:
Jamming by Bob Marley
Blue Bossa (a Jazz number)
Rockin in the Free World by Neil Young

In addition, we practiced a Chabad Niggun (Melody) called Varikosi Lochem Bracha.

We are trying to add to our Jewish repertoire by taking some classic songs and spicing them up. Perhaps giving them a more Rock and Blues sound. We will try this with a number of songs and hopefully we will find one that hits the nail right where we want it.

We are practicing again on Wednesday as we all have off work and school for New Years. Happy new years to everyone who celebrates who it, and to the rest of you,
Keep on Rockin in the free Shul!

Skullcaps Entering Next Stage

Well, with two live shows behind us (Chanukah at Chabad Markham and Cafe Chevra Melava Malka) The Skullcaps are continuing to practice and are thinking about a few shows. Last night, we had a practice/jam in a basement. We practiced a few different types of songs/genres that will assist us in getting tighter and improving our own skill too. We did a Reggae number (Stir it Up by Bob Marley) a Jazz number (Blue Bossa), a Rock number (Rockin' in the Free World by Neil Young) and a Classic Rock song (Another One Bites the Dust by Queen). We are not expecting to play these live, unless an encore presents itself, but they allow us to spread our play-ability wings.

As well, Yossi is in midst of composing a Melava Malka song with the words Vayiten Lecha. We are trying to increase our Jewish song list, and since Jewish is typically not guitar/rock music we are doing some original composing.

Stay tuned for more updates about upcoming live performances and sign up to receive Skullcap email!

Until next time, for those about to Rock.......L'chayim!!
